Me and my friend landed up one
evening talking about the Tamil literature and we realised that there was none having the contents equivalent to the best-seller fictions written in English, blame it on
our bad exposure. That is when we came across the review by Athisha titled
"A Dan Brown in Tamil" about a book named 6174 by Ka.Sudhakar, which caught my
attention. Surprisingly, the review pointed out the things which we were
expecting from Tamil literature. I tried googling the title 6174 as it did not
make any sense to me at first. It brought me to a page Kaprekar constant which spoke about a
mathematical achievement by an Indian Maths teacher D.R.Kaprekar-a black hole in a simple
mathematical operation .This example was not told to us when
teaching infinite loops in programming.
I started wondering sadly, while
we were taught about the complex equations and theories by foreigners, why couldn’t
the Kaprekar constant reach us? I understand that these concepts are complex
for school students, but would it have done harm to remind us of the
mathematical contributions by Indians?
I got the book shipped and my
uncontrollable urge to read it, leaving the workplace would have cost me my
job. The things i faced in the urge to complete the book taught me two life
lessons -- Don't trust any one and Never ever have a blind urge for
anything, For me this book was a page turner. I managed to stay awake through
the book which I usually do not. During my time with this book it struck me if
a chase happens in a foreign country and the clues are something not related to
us we become crazy reading it and spread word about the book. And if an
equivalent thing happens in here and that too in Tamil no one gives a damn.
Why? Maybe it could be because of poor marketing and also the absence of the
fancy “Bestseller” tag.
Coming to the book it covers vast
areas such as history, numbers, puzzles, science, spiritualism, architecture,
international politics and many more. The plot touches all these things while
the protagonists try to save the planet from fast forwarded global
warming and alien invasion. This is not a review of it and i do not dare to
make an attempt.
